Our composite grates for pigs are robust and thus can be used in both the farrowing pen and piglet pen. Composite pen grates are acid-resistant, liquid-proof and are a more fire-safe (Bfl-S1) alternative to plastic polypropylene grates. Our composite grates are available in both standard sizes and custom sizes.

Composite gratings are produced with thermosetting synthetic polymers. Thermosets have the unique property that they remain hard when heated, and do not melt. This makes composite gratings a more fire-safe (Bfl-S1) alternative than plastic polypropylene gratings. Because there is steel reinforcement in the gratings, our composite gratings can also be used as self-supporting gratings.

The grids are made using a compression molding process, which involves preheating the bottom and top mold to approximately 170 degrees, then placing the reinforcing steel and composite paste in the bottom mold. The upper mold is now placed on top of the lower mold and the molds are pressed together with approximately 500 tons by hydraulic presses for 10 minutes.

Composite grates are dirt-resistant and easy to clean. This creates a hygienic surface. The embossed relief offers excellent grip and forms a rougher surface which benefits animal welfare and claw health.

  • More fire-safe (Bfl-S1) alternative as plastic polypropylene gratings.
  • Long life > acid and liquid proof.
  • Perfect i.c.w. concrete > increased manure passage > more hygienic pens.
  • Rounded bars > less skin damage.
  • Damping of noise > quietness in the pens.
  • Economically interesting > competitively priced > high efficiency.

PvL composite gratings come in a variety of designs and sizes. In consultation, the gratings are available in custom sizes.
